It’s hard to go wrong with a gin & tonic. A classic drink, really refreshing and easy to make.
Hendricks has always been one of my favorite gins, and I found one several months ago that has become my all time favorite, it’s their Midsummer Solstice; it’s a small batch limited release (I hope not too limited!).
This Midsummer gin has a smooth but very floral taste to it – as they describe it “flirtatiously floral”. It’s not for everyone, but I absolutely love it.
Add cucumber or rosemary leaves for garnish – personally enjoying rosemary with it at the moment, the flavor and the scent compliment the floral tones of the gin nicely.
The tonic is almost as important as the gin itself. Actually I’d say just as important – you can have the best gin in the world, but if you don’t pair it with good tonic, the whole drink is ruined!
I recommend fever tree tonic; if you have a tonic you prefer, great, but please please please NEVER use light tonic. You’re not saving that many calories and even if you are….. still don’t

Here’s how you make it:
You’ll need:
2oz gin
1 bottle of fever tree tonic
Large ice cube
Low tumbler glass
Garnish(es) of your choice
If you’re using cucumber slices, add that to your glass first, followed by ice. Next add the gin, and now for the tonic – I’ll usually put in 1/2 to 2/3 of the bottle of fever tree in, but stir and taste, and add or don’t add until the flavor is right.
I add the rosemary or other herb in last, and that’s it!
Side note: if you want to be fancy (which you do) and you don’t have one already, get yourself a cocktail spoon. This one is under $10 on Amazon:
So there you have it! If you try it, please comment below! Also comment if you have a favorite gin or preferred tonic, I love trying new one 🙂
Love a cocktail I can add fresh herbs from the garden to!!
