Santiago Trip 2016

For the next few weeks, I’ll be posting from my old blog – I started it when we moved to São Paulo as a way of keeping the family up to date.

Today’s is from a trip we took to Santiago in 2016, where we were joined by my sister. It was a fun time, and it kind of seems like it was in a different life now, even though it was only 7 years ago.

So here it is, with poor quality photos that were taken on my phone! Hope you enjoy 🙂

Santiago with Charlene

From June of 2016

I somehow convinced Charlene to come to Santiago to meet us for a visit! Maybe she didn’t actually need too much convincing…anyway, we had a lovely time exploring the city: museums, ice cream, parks and old castles!

On our way!!!
Republica Independiente del pisco!
Charlene!!!
The above is the Santa Lucia hill, there’s an old looking castle up on the top of the hill.
View from the castle on top of the hill!
And another on the way back down.

The museums were interesting…First up: The Museo Nacional Bellas Artes – the exhibit on masculinity was maybe not our thing…but the architecture was really cool and there was a really lovely installation in the front area. As well as the bust of a perturbed David:

Bellas Artes is connected to the modern art museum, which we also liked:

Did I forget to mention that Grammy & Grandpa were also visiting Santiago with Mr. & Mrs. Taylor? What a strange coincidence…… 😉

The sabbath was lovely, as always in Santiago, we felt very welcome, translation was excellent, special music was amazing, andddd there were snacks after 🙂

And since it was the Taylor’s first time in Santiago, the congregation put on a little show after, singing, traditional Chilean dance, and I don’t have photographic evidence, but Mr. Taylor joined in the dancing and did very well!

I can’t finish without a photo of the Andes! This one doesn’t do justice, but I think it’s OK anyway –

I stayed a day later than Charlene, but had NO FUN whatsoever (thanks for the amazing dinner Daniel, Barbara & Matteus!!)

I think that’s it! I’m feeling nostalgic for Chile…I know we’ll be back again someday 🙂
