I wanted to share some wines we’ve had this month and we’ve tried several….it’s been a really long month….
This month, I’m featuring one red, one sparkling and one white.
First off: Pol Roger Vintage Brut 2009
There is never a time when champagne isn’t appropriate. I mean, OK, 8am with your cereal might not be the best but you get what I’m saying.
I prefer champagne that is more to the dry side of things, and the Pol Roger Vintage Brut 2009 is excellent. The ’09 is the one that’s available right now, at least that we’ve been able to find, but any vintage is good.
I’d describe it as being fruity, a bit sweet but more to the dry side, and very refreshing.
You can expect to pay about $100-$120 for a bottle depending on where you are. We generally buy from Spec’s in downtown Houston.
Next: Argyle Pinot Noir 2018
I really enjoy this Pint Noir, again getting it from Spec’s is about $25.
This is a great table wine so I always try to have a couple of bottles on hand.
It’s from Willamette Valley, Oregon, which is known for it’s Pinot Noirs especially but also Pinot gris.
It’s lighter, so drinking on its own is fine. It’s a bit fruit forward without being too fruity. Also has a twist top which is great for keeping and drinking over a few nights.
I like this with red meat, poultry and fish.
Now for the white: Nobilo Sauvignon Blanc 2019
This is the only wine out of the three that my husband is not a fan of, but this is my blog not his so whatever.
Nobilo Sauv. Blanc is from Marlborough New Zealand. At Spec’s you can find it for about $15.
This is one of my favorite whites because of how dry and crisp it is. It is a perfect summer wine, and as with the Argyle, I will generally have a couple of these on hand.
Also has the screw top so that the bottle can be enjoyed throughout the week.
